I'm not sure if the items I bought on our last trip to Rivertown Comics and Games actually qualify as competition or not, but both items dealt with cat comic books.
The first one I read was Kitties, which re-imagines Marvel characters as cats. This one intrigued me, as I've done a lot of prints of cats inspired by DC and Marvel characters. I wish the artist had identified which characters were being portrayed as cats, as I didn't recognize a lot of them. I also think my art is better, but then I'm not exactly objective. My prints have titles that identify which superhero inspired the art.
The second was a comic book: CatStronauts Mission Moon. The story was quite entertaining. The art, again, in my opinion, was not as good as mine. Okay, so I admit I'm tooting my own horn here. I look forward to reading more adventures of the CatStronauts.
Are they competition? We may have similar audiences, but I look at them more as complementary works rather than competition.
There's always room for more in the world of cats in comic books!
