I knew there was
something different about me when I was a kitten. I could do things other kittens could not do.
I could run faster, jump higher and stop anything that tried to fight with us.
“You will do something special
when you are older,” my Mama told me many times.
She was right. Ever since I
became Wonder Cat, I have done many special things. There are so many stories I
could tell. But since it is best to start at the beginning, I will start with
my first adventure as Wonder Cat.
I was living with two cats and
two humans. I was a little over two years old when my first mission as Wonder
Cat happened.
With my super hearing, I could
hear a cat crying. No one else in the house could hear it. Using my super strength, I pushed out one of
the screens. I ran to where the cat was. He was all alone in an alley. It was
starting to rain.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
He shivered. “The people took
everything out of the house and put it in a truck two days ago. I think they moved
away and left me here. I don’t think – I don’t think – they’re coming back for
me.” He shivered again. “I’m cold and wet and hungry.”
The more he told me, the angrier
I became. “I know a place where you’ll be safe. Hop on my back.”
“But I’m too heavy!”
“No, you’re not.” Once he was on my back, I ran all the way to the
Furrin’ and Purrin’ Animal Shelter. I knew he would be safe there until he
found his forever home.
“I’m Trevor, by the way,” he
said with a slight sniffle after he got off my back. “What’s your name?”
“You can call me Wonder Cat. Now
you need to meow as loudly as you can.” I ran to hide behind some bushes. I did
not want the people at the shelter to think I needed a home also.
He started meowing as if his
heart breaking. Having been left behind by people he thought loved him, it
probably was true.
The door opened and a young
woman picked him up. “Oh, you poor thing! You’ll be safe here.” She started
petting him and his meows turned into purrs.
I raced back home, hoping no one
would notice I had been gone. The other cats were napping, so I joined them
after I repaired the screen. I had completed my first mission as Wonder Cat.
Three Months Later
The other cats were napping, so
I decided to go out on patrol. There was nothing out of the ordinary so far.
A tap on a window caught my ear.
Sitting in a window was Trevor.
“Thank you, Wonder Cat! The most
wonderful family took me in! They told the nice lady at the shelter that I was
their forever cat now and for the rest of my life.”
He was purring. I started
purring also. “I’m so happy! I’ll try to visit you again.” We touched noses
through the window.
I headed back home, happy to
know my first mission had a happy ending.
