A Gift From The Heart

                “Here.”
Randy looked up from his desk to see Marcel with a plotted flowering plant in his hands.  His friend was well-suited for his role as the guardian of green. “Marcel?”
“It’s a special plant I’ve been raising for a while. I want you to give it to Angelique.” The younger guardian blushed.
“There’s something you’re not telling me.”
“Before I knew you and Angelique were together, I told her I wanted to be with her. She told me she wasn’t the right girl for me. I still care about her and want her to be happy. I know you can make her happy in a way I never could.” His blush deepened. “Girls like flowers and so I thought she’d like this plant.”
“Why don’t you give it to her yourself? It wouldn’t bother me if you did.”
“It would mean more coming from you.”
Randy smiled. “Let’s give it to her together.”

A knock on her door drew Angelique’s attention from her book. She opened the door to find Randy and Marcel there. Marcel held a potted flowering plant in his hands.
                “Come in.”
Marcel came in first and held out the plant awkwardly. “This is for you. I’ve been raising it just so I could give it to you.”
She smiled and took the plant. “Thank you, Marcel. It’s beautiful.” She placed a hurried kiss on his cheek. “I know just the place for this.” She placed it on top of her dresser.
Marcel blushed and left the room.
Randy smiled and squeezed her shoulder. “Marcel told me about his feelings for you. Thank you for accepting his gift so graciously.”
“I hope kissing his cheek didn’t send him the wrong message.”
He shook his head. “He accepts us a couple. He told me I could make you happy in a way he never could.”
She smiled. “You do make me happy in way no one else ever could.”
