“Randy,
please stop fussing over me. I’m fine now. Really.” Ever since Angelique had
had those couple of days when she’d been too sick to leave her room, Randy had
been with her as much as possible. It was a wonderful thing when she was sick,
but now it was getting to be too much.
“I love
you. I’m worried about you. If you don’t take care of yourself, you might get
sick again.”
“But
you don’t have to smother me.”
“Smother
you? I just want to take care of you.” He rested his hand on her shoulder.
“If I’m
going to be queen, you need to let me take care of myself sometimes.” She
smiled. “I like having you take care of me. But if I rely on you for every
little thing, how will I ever be able to reign properly?”
“You’re
right. It’s just that I’ve never felt this way before. The thought of anything
happening to you -”
She
placed her fingers against his lips. “Nothing is going to happen to me.”
He
kissed her fingertips. He smiled and his blue eyes twinkled. “I’ll do my best
to remember that.”
