Angelique
pushed the food on her plate from one side to the other, but didn’t eat more
than a couple of bites.
Rosalia
frowned. “Is your skirt too tight again?”
The
other girl blushed. Her lack of appetite at supper this night had nothing to do
with having gained any weight. “No. I’m just not very hungry tonight.” She
glanced at where Randy was sitting with Marcel and Zephel. He didn’t seem to
have any more of an appetite than she did.
As
everyone neared the end of the meal, Randy rose and cleared his throat. “Most
of you will probably be surprised by this. Angelique and I. . . Angelique and I
are-”
“A
couple,” Olivie interrupted.
Angelique
was certain her face was at least as red as the ribbon in her hair. She would
never forget how Olivie had discovered them kissing not so long ago. She rose,
her entire body trembling, and walked to Randy’s side. She took his hand and
smiled up at him. “Yes, we’re a couple now.” She was surprised at how firm her
voice sounded. Her smile broadened and she kissed his cheek.
Yes,
they were a couple now. And she hoped they would be forever.
