“Angelique, your progress is not encouraging,” Julious told
her.
Even
though the guardian of light wasn’t as gloomy as Clavis, the guardian of dark,
he was every bit as intimidating.
She
lowered her eyes. “I’m sorry. I’ll try harder.”
“Perhaps
you need to re-evaluate your priorities.” With a wave of his hand, he dismissed
her.
Priorities.
Did that mean she had to choose between Randy and becoming queen? Wasn’t it
possible to have both? “I love him. I want to be with him. But I do want to become
queen, too. Which do I want more?” she whispered.
“Angelique,
what’s wrong?” Randy’s question interrupted her musings.
“I, uh,
had a meeting with Julious.” She couldn’t meet his eyes. “He said I might need
to re-evaluate my priorities.”
He
rested his hand on her shoulder. “I’ll support whatever decision you make.” He
kissed her cheek. “No matter what.”
“Thank you.” What should she do? If only someone could
make the decision for her.
